Placemark Investments is an investment advisory firm registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The company is privately held, with 54 employees located in offices in Dallas, Texas and Wellesley, Massachusetts.
Placemark develops, implements, and supports wealth solutions, including Unified Managed Account platforms and retirement solutions for broker/dealers, registered investment advisors, banks, and family offices. As the separate account industry’s leading independent overlay portfolio manager, Placemark coordinates multiple investment vehicles such as separately managed accounts, mutual funds, and ETFs into a single customized portfolio.

The company continues to sign agreements to provide overlay portfolio management services to new program sponsors. As a result, Placemark is looking for experienced field sales professionals to wholesale Multi-Style Portfolio product to a captive retail financial advisor audience. These advisors are licensed with firms with whom Placemark has partnered to create exciting new proprietary MSP and Unified Management Account (UMA) solutions for retail investors This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (who also fills the role of SVP, Sales), and will work closely with Placemark's inside sales representatives to develop advisor sales relationships in the field. The position requires extensive travel (80%), and will likely require that the representative operate out of his/her office when not on the road.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
This position will assume the following key responsibilities:

Represent various branded and proprietary Placemark-enabled UMA solutions to retail investment advisors in a defined, multi-state territory. |

Educate fee-oriented advisors on the benefits of the UMA, introduce them to the Placemark desktop as a means of demonstrating those benefits and assist them in preparing initial investment proposals for investors. |
|
|
Develop distribution throughout the territory by building relationships and gaining commitment from advisors to use the Placemark product on a consistent basis. |
|
|
Provide feedback to the Placemark home office regarding potential new features, sales opportunities and marketing material. |
Key Activities
|
Meet with advisors in their respective offices to identify potential producers and develop product sales. |
|
|
Coordinate activities with internal sales partner to prioritize calling efforts, profile advisors, and optimize overall territory production. |
|
|
Develop efficient territory management plan and routine travel schedules. |
|
|
Maintain Placemark sales database by creating call reports and updating contact profiles. |
|
|
Meet administrative responsibilities by filing expense reports in a timely fashion |

Demonstrated success selling retail investment management products in a wholesale environment to investment advisors |

High level of proficiency in mutual funds, separate accounts, asset allocation, and investment advisory subject matter |

Deep proficiency in investment consulting practices |

Effective territory management skills |

Ability to partner effectively with an inside sales partner |

Strong communication (both written and oral) skills |
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & CAPABILITIES
Seven years minimum experience in retail financial services Five years minimum sales experience selling to the investment advisory community Proven ability to provide constructive feedback to sales management and product marketing Effective public speaking skills Professional attitude and appearance Experience / familiarity with implementing technology-based solutions NASD Series 65 license required NASD Series 7, 6, and/or 24 preferred
